It's already a rare opportunity to play on the same stage as  such renown jazz legend as Jimmy Cobb but it's even more rare opportunity to actually play with Jimmy Cobb in the same band.

That kind of opportunity showed it self to me and my co-musicians and students on University for music in Graz. With help of our great professor, which happens to also be a great trumpeter, Steve Gut we got an opportunity to play with Jimm Cobb a couple of tunes on Jazz@MUMUTH concert.

Later this evening Jimmy Cobb will also perform with his own group.

In October 2011 I cooperated in the KUG Jazz Orchestra's project with saxophonist Karlheinz Miklin and his Argentinian ensemble Quinteto Argentino.

I was  the lead alto saxophonist of the jazz orchestra and an arranger of composition named Palomar, which was writen by Karlheinz Miklin.

Concert, which we played in Graz, was recorded by national radio television company ÖRF and will be heard on air on the radio station Ö1 on Monday, 18th of April, 2011 at 19.30.

International jazz composition contest Jazz-Comp-Graz 2011 finished last week with the concert of KUG Jazz Orchestra performing 9 compositions which entered the competition finales.

After two months of rehearsals the band sounded tight and in tune. I must say that after so many rehearsals (3 each week + weekend rehearsal) we could play the compositions almost entirely from memory.

The judges (Jim McNeely, John Holonbeck, Jörg Achim Keller) had hard work but there has to be a winner on the end.

The winners are:

1st Prize: Malte Schiller

2nd Prize: Julia Maier

3rd Prize: David Grottschreiber

Audience prize: Julia Maier

Best woman composition prize: Julia Maier

Yesterday I got a call from my colleague Vedran Mutič. He asked me if I'm available for a gig on Thursday, 12th of August. Fortunately my calendar had no entries for that day. So I'm having a concert at Tromostovje Coffe Shop on Thursday, 12th of August at 20:00.

Vedran named the group "Jazzilanti". Jazzilanti are: Črt Remic - saxophone, Maja Remic - vocal, Filip Šijanec - guitar, Vedran Mutič - double bass and Jure Rozman - drums.

You are all kindly invited to join us on Prešeren Square (Ljubljana) at Tromostovje Coffe Shop on Thursday, 12th of august at 20:00.

In case of bed weather stay at home or go to the movies (I recommend you the movie "Nowhere Boy"), because the concert is not going to take place.

This year I thought on having a vacation in August. Not because of too much work, but because of not being able of getting any.

On my surprise the month of August turned out to be more intensive then any other month in this year until now.

However, the point of this article is  that I have a concert today (Tuesday, 17.8.2010) on concert cycle ŠIŠKATON in legendary Kino Šiška in Ljubljana at 21:00 hour.

You maybe noticed that I am updating my web space quiet regularly in last few months. The reason for that lies mainly in the summer break (Yes, Črt is still in school) and  successful ending of my bachelore studies. 

This year I'm going to add some more new stuff, like recordings of Spring Orchestra and a subfolder of my transcriptions.
